So for those of you who don’t know, I was involved in a motorcycle accident in May of this year. Some SUV pulled out in front of me while I was at speed and I wasn’t able to swerve or avoid the other driver’s vehicle. I ran into their truck and suffered several injuries (internal, external, scrapes, fractures etc.). Of course, the other driver fled the scene and left me for dead on the pavement. Thankfully someone witnessed the accident and called 911.
For the last 2 months my left wrist/forearm has been in a cast, immobilized because of a Scaphoid bone fracture. Today I went for a follow up appointment with the plastic surgeon. The news was, less than ideal.
They aren’t happy with the course the healing is taking, so they put me back in a splint and scheduled me a CT scan for next week. If the CT scan doesn’t give them better news than today’s x-rays, then I’ll have to undergo surgery to have a screw installed in my bone. Needless to say, I’m not thrilled about the prospect of surgery, nor the thought that I won’t be able to use my left hand for another few months as I heal. At least it isn’t my dominant hand 🙁
It’s kinda gross, but here’s a look at my hand today after they removed the cast. Lots of dried skin.
Of course, since I missed several classes in the second section of my real-estate course due to being laid up in the ICU/at home, I was dropped from the course. I re-registered the other day and I’m back at it now. I should be done w/ the course some time in August and hopefully have my license by September. Fingers crossed!
